The WTO e-Learning program offers online training on the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Multilateral Trading System, catering specifically to government officials from eligible WTO Members and Observers. Designed to be accessible from any location at any time, these courses provide a unique opportunity for participants to enhance their trade-related knowledge, seamlessly integrating learning with their daily work responsibilities. All courses are expertly delivered by the ITTC e-Learning Unit.
Enrolling in the WTO e-Learning program not only grants access to materials prepared by WTO experts but also provides ongoing support and guidance from the e-Learning team. Participants can engage in interactive activities, including live sessions and the WTO e-Learning Community, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.
The primary objectives of these e-Learning courses are to deepen understanding of the WTO's role and functions, strengthen the capacity to locate pertinent information and documents on WTO-related issues, establish a professional network among participants and with WTO experts, and actively engage in outreach activities. The courses feature interactive elements, with modules structured into lessons, each with specific learning objectives. Successful completion of each course is acknowledged with a certificate awarded to participants who pass the final exam.
The e-Learning team regularly organizes interactive activities such as live sessions and the WTO e-Learning Community. Social media content is curated for platforms like X, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Instagram, keeping participants updated on the latest WTO news and facilitating discussions on ongoing issues. These interactive activities and social media initiatives not only encourage dialogue but also provide networking opportunities, enabling participants to connect, exchange views, and relate global trade news to their daily work and government priorities.
For those not eligible for formal enrolment, the course material is available for self-study, extending the reach of the WTO to a broader audience, including academia, legislators, journalists, NGOs, and the private sector. Interested government officials should register online at https://www.learning.wto.org and then must submit a nomination form to have unrestricted access to the e-Learning platform (access to all training materials and activities; and receive a WTO certificate upon successfully completing a course). Pre-requisite
The target audience for WTO e-Learning are government officials from eligible WTO Members and Observers. WTO e-Learning is part of the WTO's PLS and offers courses on a basic and intermediate level as well as outside the PLS. The courses offered are in the generalist and specialist path. Some of the courses are pre-requisites for other e-Learning courses or face-to-face/virtual activities which take place in Geneva, in the regions, or online.
Participants must also possess an excellent ability to communicate in English, French or Spanish, respectively.
Participants not eligible for enrolment in WTO e-Learning courses can access the training material for self-study.
