Description
The main objective of this Workshop is to develop a broad understanding of WTO Trade Remedies Disciplines. The Workshop will provide details of developments in the relevant WTO committees as well as a detailed review of the WTO rules that apply to the initiation and conduct of Anti-Dumping, Countervailing Duty, and Safeguards investigations. Among other things, the Workshop will review the relationship between the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures and agricultural subsidies, and provide an overview of the WTO Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies. The Workshop will also provide participants the opportunity to exchange views and share national and regional experiences and challenges in this area.

selection process
Members/Observers are invited to submit the names of three capital-based officials, for consideration in the selection process. The nominees should be middle to senior level officials who have proven professional experience and responsibilities in the area of Trade Remedies, ideally relating to one or more of the four subject areas covered by the programme. Preference will be given to nominees who also participate in discussions on the above issues in international and multilateral fora. However, if selected, only one participant per Member will be provided with financial support from Singapore.
Pre-requisite
The nominees should be middle to senior level officials who have proven professional experience and responsibilities in the area of Trade Remedies, ideally relating to one or more of the four subject areas covered by the programme. Preference will be given to nominees who also participate in discussions on the above issues in international and multilateral fora. Participants are required to be fluent in English which will be the working language of this event.
