Description
The Thematic Course on Services Aspects of Electronic Commerce is a Level 3 training activity implemented within the WTO Progressive Learning Strategy (PLS).

The course targets government officials at mid- to senior level with at least two years of relevant work experience who are directly engaged in the formulation of e-commerce policy and/or discussions and negotiations on trade and e-commerce in the WTO or regional context.

The Course will aim to provide an extended training for trade officials engaged in negotiations on e-commerce and trade in services. The course will explore the relationship and interdependence of e-commerce with services trade, and its relationship with existing GATS disciplines. The course will also address trade in various services sectors that are enablers of e-commerce or are enabled by it. It will further provide an overview of the state of play of e-commerce discussions in Geneva that are of services relevance.

Candidates must fill out the application form attached to the invitation letter. The application form, completed and signed by the candidate and by the nominating national authority which presents the candidate, must be returned via the Permanent Mission/Embassy to the WTO. Applications and other requested information should be submitted no later than indicated in the invitation letter.

A passport photocopy and one-page CV must be attached to the application.
Pre-requisite
As the course is targeted to government officials at mid- to senior level with, candidates should have at least two years of relevant work experience and be directly engaged in the formulation of e-commerce policy and/or discussions and negotiations on trade and e-commerce in the WTO or regional context.

Candidates should have completed a WTO training activity (E-Learning or a face-to-face course) on trade in services and/or e-commerce or have demonstrably commensurate knowledge or professional experience in trade in services. Candidates should also have an excellent command of both written and spoken English.
