Description
This Workshop aims to consolidate participants' knowledge on the trade and environment nexus and on-going work at the WTO on how trade, trade policy and the multilateral trading system can contribute to efforts to address environmental challenges such as climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss. The workshop will provide background, the state of play of deliberations, and how these issues are covered under the various WTO Agreements, institutions such as the Committee on Trade and Environment (CTE), and the environmental initiatives on Trade and Environmental Sustainability (TESSD), Plastics Pollution and Environmentally Sustainable Plastics Trade (DPP) and Fossil Fuel Subsidy Reform (FFSR). The Workshop will also provide a forum for participants to exchange views and share national and regional experiences in this field, as well as to discuss the increasing number of trade-related environmental policies. .

selection process
Governments can nominate up to four capital-based officials with substantive professional responsibilities in Trade and Environment. The selection committee will only retain those officials in charge of, or participating in trade and environment negotiations (at the bilateral, regional and/or multilateral level) . Participants are required to be fluent in English.
Pre-requisite
Applications will only be considered from candidates who have experience and current job descriptions directly relevant to the subject of the Workshop.
