TC20-3

Title of the activity
Trade and Environment Thematic Workshop for LDCs.
Activity Type
Thematic course/Workshop
Description
This week-long bilingual (English/French) course specially tailored for LDCs will provide participants with essential information to better understand and act upon the challenges and opportunities offered at the intersection between trade and environment. Participants will develop their understanding on how the multilateral trading system intersects with environment, what tools and institutional arrangements exist to support them in ensuring their interests are taken into consideration and how to better position their countries to tap into the opportunities offered by the economic shift towards lower-carbon, more circular and sustainable economies.

A focus on WTO tools – such as the Environmental Database – and institutions – such as the Committee on Trade and Environment (CTE) –, will allow participants to implement the lessons learned in the short and medium term when they return to capital. Participants will also be exposed to ongoing trade programmes that are relevant to environment protection – such as under the Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF) – which can support them in this process.

Delivered in both English and French, the course will have simultaneous interpretation.
