Description
The Workshop will briefly review the GATS elements and then move into examining some of the key trends in services trade that underpin recent focus on issues raised in the WTO such as domestic regulation, ICT and electronic commerce and proposals to explore market access issues. It will include interactive sessions as well as presentations by not only WTO resource persons but also government and private sector representatives. Finally, the workshop will provide background briefings and resources related to current activities in GATS bodies and services-related initiatives. Participants will be expected to be able to better assess the national role and possible positions regarding the current issues, as well as to have tools to better identify national trade interests in services.
