TC19-10

Title of the activity
WTO Workshop on TBT Transparency.
Activity Type
Global
Description
Transparency is one of the main pillars of the TBT Agreement and the Eighth Triennial Review Report adopted in November 2018 contains over 15 transparency related recommendations (e.g. to improve information contained in notifications, to notify adoption of final measures, etc). Members are increasingly notifying TBT measures related to changes in their regulations (over 3,000 in 2018), which presents challenges to Enquiry points in tracking incoming notifications, ensuring comments from stakeholders are consolidated in a timely and efficient manner and conveyed to the trading partner. In this context, the Secretariat is organizing a 4.5-day transparency workshop to present and provide hands-on training on the tools Enquiry Points can use to facilitate their day to day work. In addition, the training will deliver a comprehensive overview of transparency requirements/procedures and facilitate networking and exchange of experiences among Enquiry Points.
